Transform your open-architecture FDM 3D printer into a real metal additive manufacturing system with The Virtual Foundry Copper Filamet™ Print and Sinter Kit. Widely considered the easiest metal material to print and sinter, this all-in-one starter bundle provides everything needed to produce functional 100% solid copper parts without proprietary hardware.
Copper Filamet™ contains 86% to 90.7% metal loading by mass, enabling high thermal and electrical conductivity once processed. It prints as easily as PLA with minimal warping and low moisture absorption, making it an ideal choice for rapid prototyping, induction coils, custom heat sinks, and short-run production.
What’s Included in the Kit
- 1 x Copper Filamet™ Spool (0.5kg or 1kg in 1.75mm or 2.85mm)
- 1 x Filawarmer Alignment Accessory
- 1 x 300mL Alumina Crucible (93mm D x 93mm H)
- 1kg x Refractory Al₂O₃ Powder
- 0.5kg x Magnesium Silicate
- 0.5kg x Sintering Carbon
Key Features & Applications
- Beginner-Friendly Sintering: Designed for high success rates, Copper Filamet™ is the most accessible material for entry-level furnace processing.
- Universal Hardware Compatibility: Works on standard open-architecture FFF/FDM desktop 3D printers and 3D printing pens.
- PLA-Like Print Behavior: Low-warping, highly stable extrusion characteristics with minimal hygroscopic sensitivity.
- Functional Applications: Ideal for prototyping, antimicrobial components, induction coils, and eliminating costly metal tooling or machining.
Technical Specifications
- Brand: The Virtual Foundry
- Material Composition: 86.0% – 90.7% Copper Powder (Bound in Polymer Matrix)
- Filament Density: 4.3 g/cc – 5.0 g/cc
- Recommended Nozzle: 0.6mm Hardened Steel (Standard Flow)
- Diameter Options: 1.75mm or 2.85mm
Printing & Handling Recommendations
- Feed Path: Ensure a direct, straight feed path into the extruder to prevent brittle filament snapping.
- Drying Warning: Do not heat-dry this filament. Thermal drying breaks down the specialized organic binder system.
