E3D Revo ObXidian Wear-Resistant Nozzle
E3D Revo ObXidian Wear-Resistant Nozzle
Conquer highly abrasive filaments without sacrificing the speed and convenience of the RapidChange ecosystem with the E3D Revo ObXidian™ Nozzle. Specifically engineered for extreme durability, this premium nozzle allows you to run composite fibers, glowing pigments, and metal or ceramic fills continuously without wearing down your nozzle aperture.
By pairing a ultra-hard tool steel core with E3D's custom diamond-like coating, the Revo ObXidian delivers outstanding wear resistance and non-stick performance in one drop-in package.
Extreme Wear Resistance with ObXidian Technology
Traditional brass nozzles erode within hours of printing carbon fiber or glass-filled filaments. Standard hardened steel nozzles last longer but suffer from poorer thermal performance. ObXidian solves both problems:
- Tool Steel Core: Features a rugged tool steel insert that is several orders of magnitude harder than standard hardened steel or Nozzle X offerings, maintaining precise dimensions over hundreds of print hours.
- E3DLC™ Coating: Coated with a specialized Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) layer that provides exceptional surface hardness and durability.
- Non-Stick Properties: The E3DLC coating features exceptionally low surface energy, which prevents molten plastic from clinging to the nozzle tip. This drastically reduces filament buildup (nozzle blobs) and print defects.
Frustration-Free RapidChange Ecosystem
Like all nozzles in the Revo family, the ObXidian variant incorporates E3D’s revolutionary quick-swap architecture:
- Cold Swapping by Hand: Change your nozzle at room temperature without using hot tools or performing hazardous hot tightening. Simply unscrew the nozzle with your fingers and thread in a new one.
- Leak-Proof Design: The nozzle and the heatbreak are integrated into a single, factory-sealed unit. This structural design completely eliminates threads inside the heater block where molten plastic typically leaks out.
- Easy Size Identification: Each nozzle size is easily recognized at a glance by a color-coded silicone sock, paired with clear engraved size markings on the metal body.
Important Operating Considerations
- Heater Block Compatibility: Revo nozzles are designed exclusively for the RapidChange Revo ecosystem and are not compatible with older V6-style heater blocks.
- Z-Offset Adjustment: While Revo nozzles are machined to strict length tolerances, it is always recommended to verify and slightly adjust your Z-offset after swapping nozzles to achieve a perfect first layer.
- Specialized 0.15mm Guidelines: Ultra-fine 0.15mm nozzles are highly prone to jamming due to the incredibly small orifice. They should only be used with pristine, clean filaments and under slower print conditions.
