Cookiecad - Fairy Floss Translucent Gradient Glitter PETG Filament (1.75mm, 1kg)
Cookiecad - Fairy Floss Translucent Gradient Glitter PETG Filament (1.75mm, 1kg)
Bring an enchanting, multi-dimensional fantasy aesthetic to your functional 3D prints. Cookiecad Fairy Floss PETG is a truly magical engineering material that combines a beautiful, slowly transitioning translucent gradient with a heavy dusting of brilliant silver micro-glitter. The polymer base cycles gracefully from pastel pink, to cosmic purple, to celestial blue and back again, allowing ambient light to pass through your models and illuminate the suspended glitter flakes from within.
Master Your Translucent PETG Gradients
Because the color shift occurs gradually across the length of the strand, you can use your slicing configurations to control exactly how this whimsical spectrum reveals itself on your finished parts:
- Small Objects: Will print in a single, rich shimmering tone—allowing you to harvest completely different looking colored parts out of the exact same roll.
- Large Objects: Will showcase a beautiful, seamless color cycle transitioning elegantly through the translucent pink, purple, and blue spectrum.
- The Translucent Advantage: Adjusting your infill density or choosing creative patterns (like gyroid or honeycomb) changes how ambient light scatters inside the walls, giving the silver glitter flakes an incredible sense of depth.
Why Choose PETG Over PLA?
- Enhanced Structural Strength: PETG provides significantly higher impact resistance, better tensile strength, and greater flexibility than standard PLA, meaning parts won't snap under mechanical stress.
- Superior Thermal Threshold: With a higher heat deflection profile, prints hold their shape without warping or deforming under hot sunlight, making it excellent for automotive interior accents, outdoor display pieces, or practical household items.
- Excellent Layer Adhesion: Delivers superior Z-axis bonding, resulting in highly water-resistant, durable, and reliable parts that naturally camouflage layer lines thanks to the embedded micro-glitter.
General Printing & Calibration Tips
To capture the ultimate color depth and clean extrusion behavior, PETG requires slightly adjusted hardware profiles compared to PLA:
- Nozzle & Hardware Setup: Cookiecad uses ultra-fine micro-glitter particles that are completely safe for standard brass nozzles. However, upgrading to a 0.6mm nozzle or using a direct-drive extruder configuration drastically minimizes backpressure and virtually eliminates the risk of particle accumulation over massive, multi-day print jobs.
- Nozzle/Extruder Temperature: 230°C – 250°C (Adjust to find the perfect balance between high clarity and minimal stringing).
- Heated Bed Temperature: 70°C – 80°C
- Print Surface Prep: PETG adheres aggressively to smooth PEI and glass. It is highly recommended to apply a glue stick or specialized release interface to your build plate to protect your surface during part removal.
- Storage Note: Keep this spool stored in a dry box or sealed bag with desiccant when not in use to maintain crisp, artifact-free extrusion.
