3DXTech ThermaX PEI Ultem 1010 Filament – 1.75mm (500g)
3DXTech ThermaX PEI Ultem 1010 Filament – 1.75mm (500g)
ThermaX™ PEI Ultem 1010 by 3DXTech is an ultra-performance, engineering-grade 3D printing filament engineered for the most demanding aerospace, automotive, and industrial applications. Proudly manufactured in the USA at a state-of-the-art 68,000 ft² production facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan, this high-performance filament is custom-formulated using genuine ULTEM 1010 Polyetherimide (PEI) resin and advanced carbon additives. Combining extreme mechanical strength, flame retardancy, and superb chemical resistance, it allows engineers to substitute heavy metal components with lightweight, high-temperature 3D printed parts.
Designed strictly for industrial and professional hardware setups, ThermaX PEI 1010 features an extraordinarily high glass transition temperature (Tg) of 217°C, ensuring exceptional dimensional stability and eliminating sensitivity to heat creep under intense operating loads. Infused with specialized carbon additives, this advanced formulation is highly optimized for critical applications requiring permanent electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection, a high level of cleanliness, and extreme rigidity. It exhibits outstanding resistance to automotive fluids, fully halogenated hydrocarbons, alcohols, and aqueous solutions, alongside an incredibly low and uniform coefficient of thermal expansion for flawless part-to-part reproducibility.
Printing Note: As an amorphous, high-performance macromolecule, Ultem 1010 is an advanced industrial material. It requires specialized high-temperature hardware capable of sustained high extrusion temperatures, a highly heated print bed, and a actively heated chamber to control crystallization, prevent severe warping, and achieve excellent interlayer adhesion.
Industrial Performance & Structural Benefits
- Extreme Thermal Resistance: Incredible continuous-use threshold featuring a high glass transition temperature (Tg) of 217°C.
- Inherent Flame Retardancy: Naturally flame-resistant material with low smoke evolution and toxicity characteristics.
- Long-Term Hydrolytic Stability: Retains its exceptional mechanical modulus and tensile properties even when exposed to repeated moisture and steam cycles.
- Broad Chemical Shielding: Exceptional resistance against harsh industrial solvents, commercial automotive fluids, and acidic aqueous environments.
- Stable Dielectric Properties: Maintains a consistent dielectric constant and dissipation factor over wide temperature and frequency ranges.
Technical Specifications & Hardware Guidance
- Material Type: Polyetherimide (Genuine ULTEM 1010 PEI with Carbon ESD Additives)
- Filament Diameter: 1.75mm
- Spool Weight: 500g (1.1 lbs)
- Hardware Requirements: Requires an industrial or highly modified desktop 3D printer equipped with an all-metal high-temperature hotend, high-temp heated print bed, and an actively heated build enclosure.
- Material Maintenance: Material is highly hygroscopic. It must be thoroughly dried in a high-temperature filament oven prior to printing to guarantee optimal layer bonding and to prevent structural voiding.
