Our Blue ASA filament (Acrylic-styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer) is a thermoplastic elastomer. It has high UV irradiation resistance. Also, it is resistant to heat, moisture, and stress cracking. Additionally, Our Blue ASA filament has one of the best weathering resistance properties in the 3D printing industry.

With high chemical resistance and impact strength, ASA mechanical properties are very similar to acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) elastomers. With no double bonds in the polymer backbone, our ASA filament has better long-term heat and chemical resistance when compared to diene rubbers.

ASA Applications

Our ASA filament has many applications and uses. It is extensively used in the real estate industry (construction, appliances, etc.). In addition, it is also used for automotive body parts, like mirrors. Besides, Its mechanically robust feature makes it perfect in terms of applications that require high resistance. Moreover, It is resistant to the U.V. rays which explains its non-yellowing property.

Our Blue ASA filament also finds application in underwater usage or pump junctions given the fact that it is highly water-resistant. Also, It can also generate a good finish for different parts without any kind of deformation. It also provides excellent dimensional stability with no warping and high tolerance. Due to its strength properties and UV resistance, ASA can be used to produce functional prototypes, including:

  • Molded components for Auto, Marine, and RV applications
  • Electrical housings
  • Outdoor appliances
  • Hand and power tools
  • Sporting goods
  • Exterior signage

ASA Tips

A bit of ASA and acetone on top of a heated build plate will give an excellent film onto which your parts can adhere. Also, Our Blue ASA Filament can be smoothed using controlled exposure to acetone vapors (a process called “vapor smoothing”). In addition, HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene) can be used as a great dissolvable support material for ASA prints.
